Troy Elevator, a division of Mennel Millling
In March of 2011, Rebsco Inc. broke ground in Troy, Ohio to begin the 750,000 bushel expansion project for Mennel Milling. The center point of the project was the erection of the GSI 105’ diameter by 35 ring bin. At 122’-6” to the peak, this massive bin is capable of holding 750,000 bushel. In addition to the 105’ bin, Rebsco fabricated and erected a 12’ x 14’ galvanized, free-standing tower. The tower was equipped with a full 12’ x 14’ head and intermediate platform. The tower is used to support 160’ of truss and drag conveyors, which connect the new 105’ bin to the existing facility across the road. The tower and trusses were designed and fabricated the Rebsco Inc. shop. To move grain to and from the 105’ bin, Rebsco installed 10,000 BPH (Bushel per Hour) Intersystem drags. Rebsco also fabricated the 12” square spouting…
Premier Feeds, Urbana, Ohio facility
In 2011, Rebsco Inc. designed and installed a 2500 lbs/hrs production line for manufacturing aquatic feed. This line was assembled in an existing feedmill, which is owned and operated by Premier Feeds, in Urbana, Ohio. To form the pellets for the aquatic feed, Rebsco chose to use an Instapro Model 2500 single barrel extruder. Extrusion was the method most desired to make the pellets, because of the high capacity and efficiency of production. After the raw product was extruded and pellets were formed, the pellets went through a Belt-o-Matic Dryer/Cooler to remove unwanted moisture and heat. Once the fish food was dried, a Hayes & Stolz volumetric coater system was used to apply fat to the feed. To convey product to and from the production area, Rebsco implemented the use of Brock Flex Augers and Cablevey Conveyors. By using these types of conveyance systems, Rebsco was able to decrease product damage, increase flexibility in design, and allow for better fork truck traffic.
Hemmelgarn & Sons, Receiving Pit Upgrade
Helping our customers provide better service to their customers is what we do! Hemmelgarn and Sons of Union City, Ohio hired Rebsco, Inc. to evaluate and upgrade their receiving capabilities during the summer of 2011. The design team, working within the parameters of existing space developed a plan which allowed Hemmelgarn and Sons to achieve their goal, completing a 10,000 BPH receiving upgrade. The goal of this project was to replace the existing 3000 BPH receiving dump and upgrade receiving capacity to handle 10,000 BPH. To do so, Rebsco fabricated a 400 bushel receiving hopper and installed a 134’, 10,000 BPH Intersystem’s bucket elevator. To support the bucket elevator, Rebsco fabricated and installed a 12’ x 12’ square, 135’ free standing tower, equipped with head and distributor platforms. To connect the new receiving dump with the existing feed mill, Rebsco fabricated and installed 161’ of 6’ wide walkway truss. By upgrading and increasing the receiving capacity, the Hemmelgarn Feedmill is able to decrease truck traffic and reduce customers unload time. This allows for smoother operations, faster truck turnaround, and improved customer satisfaction.
